South by Southwest (SXSW), one of the most important global technology and innovation events, known as a stage for launching trends – and an environment for increasing knowledge and repertoire on topics that impact reputation –, is now in its 39th edition. This year, the event, which will take place from March 7 to 15 in Austin, Texas (USA), has particularly special attractions for Brazilians.

Among the most anticipated lectures is that of Brazilian executive Cristiano Amon, CEO of Qualcomm, who will speak on the 11th. Another highlight will be the performance of futurist Amy Webb, which will launch its long-awaited Technology Trends Report. Over the years, the CEO of the Future Today Institute and professor at NYU Stern School of Business has gained many enthusiasts in Brazil.

AI: the new interface in programming

The title of Amon’s talk at the event that celebrates innovation and creativity sums up what should be emphasized in this year’s program in Austin: “AI is the new UI: Transforming Your Everyday.” The Brazilian intends to show how Artificial Intelligence is becoming the definitive interface, transforming the way we interact with technology in our daily lives. Qualcomm, led by Amon, is the company behind Snapdragon, responsible for processors that power billions of devices used by people every day.

Amy Webb’s report is not just a vision of the future, but a tool for companies and governments to prepare for the transformations that are coming. Webb uses extensive data and her knowledge of technological trends to project scenarios that blend science, technology and society, creating a map of the future.

AI and quantum computing

A central issue for companies that want to perpetuate their legacy, technology and innovation are the basis of the entire SXSW program. In addition, one of the characteristics of the initiative is its emphasis on creativity. Among the predominant themes are:

  1. Artificial Intelligence and the future of technology,
  2. Quantum computing;
  3. Sustainability and green innovation;
  4. Music and pop culture;
  5. Independent cinema and new narratives;
  6. Entrepreneurship and startups.

Brazilian public

Organizers expect around 2,000 Brazilians to attend, a slightly smaller total than in 2024. Even so, Brazil will continue to have the second largest number of participants from outside the United States, behind only the United Kingdom. This year's event has been shortened by one day to make the extensive program more accessible to more people.
